“They Call Him OG” Trailer Breaks Out: Power, Style & Expectations

They Call Him OG Trailer (shortened as OG) has been unveiled as part of its most anticipated pre-release event, and it provides everything fans have been waiting for: gritty gangster premise, star-spunk, mythos, and raw action. Featuring Pawan Kalyan in his title role as Ojas Gambheera, and Bollywood superstar Emraan Hashmi making his Telugu debut in his role as arch-villain Omi Bhau, this film provides an assurance of coming out as one of 2025’s biggest action entertainer in face-off terms. Directed by Sujeeth and made under DVV Entertainment, OG releases in theaters on 25 September 2025.

Plot Premise: The Return of a Don, The Rise of a Rival

As can be estimated from the trailer, OG is set in an underworld world of Ojas Gambheera (OG), an underworld mafia boss who goes missing from Mumbai’s underworld under unclear circumstances for ten years. The crime world, during his absent periods, becomes controlled by Omi Bhau (Emraan Hashmi), an merciless competitor and survivor who thrives on intrigue and control. OG’s return isn’t just to reclaim territory he comes back with revenge, intent, and vengeance to seek out. The trailer leads back to Gambheera’s days of yesteryear dominance, fall, and suffering out of treachery. It also generates tension through family, religion, and costs of control from the shadows.

Cast & Warriors

The casting provides meat to the narrative. Pawan Kalyan, who as an actor is already one of mass popularity, owns his part as OG in style-studded apparels and over-the-top bravado—to both machismo and emotion. Emraan Hashmi, in his first appearance in an acting part in Telugu, walks in swinging as Omi Bhau, telegraphing cat-and-mouse games in hero-villain encounters.

Priyanka Mohan as OG’s better half, Kanmani; Prakash Raj as Satya Dada; Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman and others, who round out the cast and promise dramatic oomph and ensemble firepower. Cinematography is by Ravi K. Chandran & Manoj Paramahamsa, and Thaman S provides the score—both familiar names and those which set expectations high.

Visuals & Technical Strengths

Very little jumps out technically in this trailer. The ambition seems to be great larger-than-life sets, dark shadows, grimy interiors, nighttime shots, orchestral background score—sanded to shine. Pawan’s in-camera presence is formal, in slo-mo and dramatic close-up, battles, and emotional gravity. The trailer switches between spectacularness and emotional jolts: snippets of romance, treachery, and fall and redemption of a don. Suggestive glances at high-production action (gunfights, hand-to-hand, dramatic face-offs) supported good visuals and costumes.

Marketing & Buzz: Pre-release Hype

The promotional strategy of OG has been bold and innovative. The trailer initially created rumors of releasing digitally but was shelved, instead being premiering at OG Concert, an over-the-top pre-release function at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad. Thousands gathered, evidencing magnificent fan commitment. The fan even paid ₹1.29 lakh for one-of-a-kind movie ticket through an auction—indicating just how far hype has escalated.

Alongside the trailer, promotional content such as the “HBD OG – LOVE OMI” sneak peek (in which Emraan’s character writes an insulting note to OG) and Pawan Kalyan honing his diction in Japanese and reciting haiku (“Washi Yo Washi”) in promos have kept devotees intrigued as well.

What Fans Love & What They Question

Overwhelmingly positive reviews run aplenty. Fans praise great builds, Pawan Kalyan’s presence, menace of lead villain (Emraan Hashmi), visuals, promise of actions, and Bernstein score. Several believe OG welcomes B&R mass action cinema minus rinses and upsizes to polish and pomp.

However, there also exist critical voices. Some think the trailer reveals too much—the action bits, character introductions, having little to surprise in the final picture. Some think too many trailers / promo shots can overhype the extravaganza, having the movie’s own rhythm become more critical. Leak-outs of low-quality trailers or clips have also elicited divided comments over production cohesion.
