By its sharp writing, engaging narration, and fine performances, the film turned out to be a new attempt at the crime thriller genre in Tamil films. Directed by debutant Vignesh Raja, who, through the success of this film, catapulted himself to stardom and solidified his recognition as a promising new-age director.
Having experienced success through Por Thozhil, Vignesh Raja was soon approached with an offer by lead star Dhanush, who, it is rumored, had been impressed by the writing skills of Vignesh Raja. It has been recounted that Dhanush had presented a narration of a script to Vignesh Raja, who, upon hearing the plot, gave an instant green signal to the project.
Such a union of Dhanush and Vignesh Raja has already generated a lot of hype among fans and people in the know. Dhanush, who has had a good instinct about script and also shown interest in supporting differentiated content, has perhaps met his perfect partner in Vignesh Raja, who had put out a fantastic debut.
To put this all in perspective, even the heroine for the film has also been locked down. Rising starlet Mamitha Baiju, who has increasingly found her place in Malayalam films and also recently entered Tamil films, will don the heroine role. Though there were earlier murmurs about her being under consideration, it has now been cleared officially by people around the production.
Mamitha’s entry adds a distinct flavor to the film, considering that she has a skilled history of performances and screen presence. It’s an exciting entry in her Tamil filmography, opposing her to a seasoned performer in Dhanush as directed by a budding filmmaker.
